Born in Taipei, Taiwan, Albert Hsu is 9th generation Taiwanese native with an eclectic artistic lineage. His grandfather is a experienced woodworker who specializes in traditional Japanese Geta sandals.


Albert has inherited his skilled grandfather's talent in craftsmanship with wood. Growing up with his parents, a highly regarded pediatrician and a historian, Albert attended public schools in Taiwan and Canada. Albert studied sculptures and visual arts in British Columbia for 3 years before joining the California College of the Arts' furniture program and graduated in 2008.
